Stachys | STA-kiss | Lamb's Ears

Attractive to bees, butterflies and people, soft, velvety lamb’s ears has a place in nearly every sun-drenched garden. It provides the perfect silver accent for saturated or bright colors. The silvers will spread easily (to 14 inches), but they can be controlled easily, too.

Unfortunately, if the weather is too humid, you can expect “melt out” when the leaves brown out and appear to die. Call it rot. The plant will survive. We recommend planting stachys in a location that will not experience excessive moisture in winter.

We would like to correct a previously reported error about stachys Helene von Stein. We have learned that, on occasion, it will throw a flower spike and apparently, this is quite unpredictable. We were confused by this unpredictability, assume that you will be, too and intend to grow the plant anyway. Because it is a good plant.
