Trollius | TROLL-ee-us | Globeflower
Although it certainly begins to bloom in spring, the valiant globeflower persists for weeks,
adding a cheerful and elegant note well into the weeks of the summer garden. Last season, we enjoyed continued
flowering well into late July! After it finally does finish flowering, take the time to cut
back and fertilize. In late summer or early fall, you will usually be rewarded with more flowers.
Plus, you will avoid seeing the gradual deterioration of the foliage which commonly occurs
in dry locations.
Plant near ponds or in otherwise soggy conditions for best results. We have
observed some reseeding, but the finest varieties are all vegetatively propagated (which is not to
say that the seedlings are inferior). The spread will be 18-24 inches. This is a must-have plant, however,
for any and all damp gardens.
