Dentaria | den-TAR-ee-ah | Toothwort
The tiny native toothwort is part of a rather large genus (over 100 species) that are usually found in cool, temperate climates.
It is native from Quebec to Georgia.
In New England, it has a place among other spring ephemerals (ephemerals are those plants that bloom early in the season and then go dormant). The delicate foliage and elegant flower joins hands with early primrose and celandine poppy to create a wonderful woodland spring.
