Sagina | say-GYNE-uh | Various Common Names
The common names for this plant are easy to remember: the green sagina is known as Irish Moss (get it?) and the golden form is known as Scotch Moss. Either way, these are excellent groundcovers for hot, dry locations where, perhaps, little else will grow. You can't dance on them, but a bit of light foot traffic will do them no harm. In June, when the delicate, tiny white flowers appear, the effect is fairyland.
