Plainview Farm :: Ornamental Grasses :: Festuca :: Festuca
Festuca | fess-TOO-ka | No Common Name
It's brilliant blue color and small size make festuca a logical candidate for displaying at the front of the border. The texture adds unique character that other plants cannot provide.
In early spring, the cool season festuca begins to grow quickly, so it is wise to give it a light fertilizer at that time. Cutting back is not usually necessary, but we do run our hands through it to remove dead leaves. In early summer, the flowers are held above the foliage and sway lazily in the breeze. Use this grasses in groups for a unique color splash in the perennial garden.
