Plainview Farm :: Perennials :: Achillea-Aquilegia :: Anemonella
Anemonella | a-NEM-o-nel-la | Rue Anemone
Of all the gardens here at the Farm, the one that seems to garner the greatest admiration and enjoyment is the woodland area in front of the nursery. Beginning in the earliest spring, this is the place that provides a new sight to see every day.
Rue anemone is one of those sights.
The lovely rue anemone is, possibly, our favorite of the spring woodlanders and is native to Maine. It is the only plant in it's genus.
(Our “favorite plant” is a very flexible concept and easily influenced)
We like this plant because it is easy to grow and it offers delicate, feminine flowers in mid May. It spreads gently and will colonize in due time. Seedlings are no problem. Lift them with your trowel and move to begin a new colony.
Or offer to a dear friend who will thank you every spring thereafter.
