Hibiscus | high-BISS-kus | No Common Name
The tropical appearance of hibiscus brings a somewhat startling perspective to Maine gardens.
Can it be hardy? Well, hardy it is! As hibiscus does wait a while in spring to break dormancy, patience
is advised. Do call if you would like reassurance. We recommend planting it in a corner that
collects the sun—the warmer the better. It will break a bit earlier, if you can provide this.
Through the growing season, we recommend providing it consistent moisture. Expect flowering
to begin in late August. Space 36 inches apart.
We have a new hibiscus that are quite compact, making them possible for smaller gardens. See product details.
