This residential property, located in Cape Elizabeth, gave us the opportunity to renovate an aged and tired landscape.

Our client wanted to replace the overgrown shrubs that dominated the landscape, making it quite uninviting. It was important to her that we reduce the maintenance of the area and to include new plants that would provide winter interest.

After assessing the health of the existing plants, we were able to rejuvenate them and relocate them to other parts of the property. Working with the client, we developed a new plant list and a simplified design for the garden.

We installed a bluestone walkway leading from the driveway to the front door. Some of the plants we used included boxwood, viburnum, river birch and small-leafed rhododendron.

By including a small lawn in the new design, the landscape was "opened up," which then made the house visible from the driveway. Previously, the overgrown shrubs had hidden the house, giving it a closed-off feeling.

The new landscape is well-suited to the neighborhood and our client was very pleased that her vision could be realized. We used the plants that she wanted (and reused the ones she did not want). The project took our crews three days to install (including time to relocate the old plants). We were blessed with good weather, so the project was finished on time and on budget.
