In 2006, we designed and installed a project for a large company in Gardiner. They had built a beautiful new office/warehouse building and needed a beautiful landscape to complete the job.

Their goal for the property:

1.They wanted a landscape that would help their office look it’s very best. They had justifiable pride in their new home and wanted us to help make it even better. Any commercial landscape should be designed for low maintenance and they asked for that, of course.

To move toward meeting this goal, our designers were first confronted with a difficult site that was very windy and had poor soil. These factors certainly limits the palate of usable plants. Additionally, because the building was new, we wanted to introduce some larger plants that would better match in scale. The budget was not so lavish that we could order full-grown trees, but we did use some mature plants that provided a strong presence.

To complement the architecture, a paver block entrance area was installed. It was a nice complement to the red brick of the building.

The plant palate was restricted but we selected daylilies, rudbeckia, ornamental grasses, various viburnum and juniper. These tough plants would look good for many years. Large trees, such as linden, maple and spruce formed the framework for it all.

All were pleased when this large, rather complicated project came in on time and on budget. The following spring, we replaced some trees that had not survived the harsh winter. Since we maintain the property during the growing season, we keep an eye out for disease and insect problems. So far, all plants are healthy and thriving.

In 2008, the client wanted to extend the landscape. To accomplish this, we installed perennials and annuals to a very visible, yet previously unused, area.

Those plants added color and excitement!
